Quintessential old-style lunch counter. I stopped in 30 minutes before a meeting, got a good meal for a good price in less than the allotted time. The menu looked pretty diverse, the full selection of diner fare, a page of breakfast foods, then burgers and sandwiches. I stuck to a quick burger and macaroni salad since I was tight on time, but both were very good and made with care. Service was excellent, quick and very friendly. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Lock Haven.

Such a cute diner! I got the turkey club and my husband got the Texas fried burger! The service was very quick and friendly. Good portions. Food was fantastic!

Great place to go for breakfast. It has an old school feel to it. Much recommended. People were friendly. The food is great! My boyfriend and I eat here every Saturday morning!

The Texas is exactly the kind of place you want to see after driving all night. Open for breakfast, breakfast all day, breakfast counter. I veered off the interstate a few miles into the town of Lock Haven, thinking it was the town in that Daniel Clowes book, driving around in my delirium trying to find that huge rock. But no, that's Ice Haven, and this is Pennsylvania. Why is this place called Texas? Is there a sister restaurant in Texas called Pennsylvania Lunch? They have something here called "The Growler"-- or is that just my stomach? Prices and service right out of a 1950s Amish Archies comic book. If there is/was such a thing. I need to get some sleep. Since 1918, they say. Was this the only thing in Lock Haven in 1918, and they built the town around it? Maybe the early settlers thought that THIS was Texas, the way they thought the USA was India, without GPS's and all. There's got to be a story here, but Ohio is on the horizon.

Edible. Texas hot dog w chili sauce was just ok--was expecting more flavor and sweetness out of the chili sauce. Decently sized dog though. Oh and my salad with italian dressing came out as oil and vinegar and a mountain of pepper. Tasted fine, but not what I expected.

The Texas has been around the Lock Haven area for a while now. It was often referred to as the greasy spoon by the residents of lock Haven. It does offer a diner experience and has been remodeled a few years ago to give it a much cleaner look that it had before. It was a spot that the college kids wold go to after the bars had closed. They have different hours now so this is something you do want to check before going there. Overall good place to eat.

We are visiting from out of state and were referred here by a local as a great place to get breakfast all day - we love that. The place was easy to find, cute, clean, and packed with locals. The food was good, plentiful, and priced well. The service was friendly and prompt. Thank you Janice! We will definitely come here next time we are in town.

Delish. The fries are the bomb. Burger was pretty awesome too. Lots of options for kids, two counters, really cool space with the glittery red booth cushions. I'd be making this place a staple if I lived here.

Classic style diner with affordable food for a good price. Personal Favorites: Steak Salad, Olivia Burger, Eggs & Bacon breakfast. Steak Salad (with blue cheese). Their steak salad is made with real steak, not shaved beef or hamburger. Topped with onions, tomatoes, feta cheese, green olives and fresh French fries, its a classic taste! The Olivia Burger is a Greek twist on hamburgers, Is probably a 1/3 pound patty with feta cheese, tomato and onions. I also like to add mayo, pickles, and ketchup. Makes for a classic-American style burger with a sharper (feta) cheese, which I like! Definitely recommend for Breakfast and Lunch. Never really been there for dinner. But one of the few places in Lock Haven with Filet Mignon on the menu.

What a joke. Girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast and I ordered 2 over-easy eggs which were practically RAW. Like the cook had never flipped an egg before. Couldn't even eat them. She ordered pancakes that tasted like grease, so it's pretty obvious they don't clean their grill often. The taste of the bacon reminded me of the time I ate my dead grandfather's ashes. But above all, the service was just flat out disrespectful. I am a student at the local university, and it is clear that this place just caters to the regulars. The only had about 4-5 tables including our table, and the one time that anyone asked us about our meal, the waitress shouted from the other side of the room. When I brought up the check to the register, I showed my student I.D. for the advertised 10% discount, and the woman let out a long sigh. This restaurant is lucky that I even paid for the meal. Anyone considering coming here I highly recommend you drive a block over to Fox's Market House Restaurant.

A favorite summer spot. You just walk in and grab a seat. It's a small place so seating can be limited. The service is quick and friendly. The food is always good and greasy, just they way I like it!

I see the ratings on here are mostly from people from out of town. I however am a local and I grew up going here and then taking my daughter (A DOUBLE TRANSPLANT PATIENT!) to The Texas for some great local food. Decor was not why anyone ever went to The Texas. It was, in fact, that you could get good, home cooked, family recipe food day AND night. So now why my poor rating? Well I went back to The Texas with my wife and now 16 year old daughter last Friday evening for only the 2nd time since they renovated (because the 1st time was a bad experience). The waitress was sitting with some people in a booth (I assumed her parents). After eventually giving us our menus and going back to her seat I watch her sniffing and wiping her eyes (stay tuned for the relevance). Mind you she gave us our menus without taking our drink order. After sitting there watching her sit and chit chat she finally came to take our order. I asked if she wanted our drink order first and she got snooty and said she does it all at once. We order; 2 Texas dogs for me with gravy fries and clam chowder; my daughter got 1 Texas dog with Texas fries and clam chowder; my wife got a Giro and fries. Now my wife askes what's the meat is used in the Giro and the waitress says "It's just regular meat. Not lamb but beef". I'm about walked out. Next the waitress goes to deliver order and brings our drinks without ever WASHING HET HANDS! She did get better as our meal progressed but I couldn't get past her snootiness and the NON HAND WASHING!! Soup was bland and I had NO clams, but I did have freakin carrots! Texas sauce needs bolder flavors like it did years ago. Gravy fries were my only 4 star item. Texas fries looked good but eh. Giro was just "OK" my wife says. Price for the three of us was around $30. Not bad right.....BUT.....NOW NOT SO SURPRISINGLY MY DAUGHTER IS SICK!!!!!!! How can someone working in food service not understand the IMPORTANCE OF HAND WSHING????? It'll be a cold day in HELL before I go back to The Texas Restaurant or let any of my friends go there. This will be copied and pasted anywhere I see fit. Sorry The Texas but you got some major work to do.

I haven't been here in a few years but I would have died in the streets of lock haven if this place wasn't around to feed me at 2 in the morning.
